A Lighter Touch

South Hobart Acupuncture

The Brief

Rebecca runs a busy acupuncture practice in South Hobart. The site she came to me with had been put together herself — perfectly serviceable, did its job day-to-day, but it wasn’t keeping pace with the quality of the practice it was meant to represent. She wanted a more professional home online and, while we were at it, a proper logo to anchor the brand.

She also wanted to be able to manage the site herself once it was live, and to make booking an appointment a one-click thing rather than a phone-tag situation.

Our Approach

I started with the brand. The feather motif was a deliberate choice — light enough to suggest the precision and gentleness of acupuncture without being heavy-handed about it, and a mark Rebecca could carry across the site, signage, social and printed materials. Restrained typography and an off-white textural treatment keep it calm and considered — the same feeling a patient gets walking into the clinic itself.

From there, the site followed. I structured the content around the questions new patients actually ask — Is it going to hurt? What should I bring? How long is a session? — rather than the generic About / Services / Contact navigation that makes them dig. Mobile got particular attention, since that’s where the majority of Rebecca’s traffic comes from.

I integrated a booking system directly into the site so patients can secure an appointment from any page in a couple of taps. No phone-tag, no email back-and-forth, no third-party platform whisking the patient off-brand mid-flow.

To round it off, I produced a small library of training videos walking Rebecca through the everyday updates — adding a blog post, swapping a photo, updating prices, posting to the news section. Real screen-recordings, plain-language voiceover, indexed by task. The site is hers to run.

The Outcome

Rebecca now has a brand and a site that match the calm, considered care she actually provides. New patients arrive pre-reassured — the questions they were nervous to ask are already answered, and they can book in without picking up the phone. The training library means she isn’t back in my inbox every time she wants to change a price or post an update.
