The Brief
I’d built the website for Adam’s other business, The Hobart Gardeners, so when he started a side venture, in-home tech help across the Greater Hobart area, he got back in touch. It’s a nice idea: friendly, patient, at-your-door help for people who find technology stressful, with older Tasmanians particularly in mind.
The brief was refreshingly clear. One page with everything a customer needs: an intro, a bit about Adam, why you’d choose him, transparent pricing, a contact form and click-to-call. Nothing fancy. What it did need was to be genuinely easy to use for an audience that doesn’t enjoy websites, because the whole business rests on not intimidating the very people it’s there to help.

Our Approach
For this audience, every extra choice is friction. So the page is built around a single, obvious path: here’s what Adam does, here’s who it’s for, here’s what it costs, and here’s how to get him to your door. Two ways to make contact, a short form and a click-to-call number, sit within easy reach wherever you are on the page, because a phone call is what a lot of these customers will reach for first.
The copy does a lot of the reassurance work. It leans on the things this audience actually worries about - “you don’t need to be tech-savvy”, “no question is a silly one”, “we come to you”, “clear, upfront pricing” - rather than the feature lists a younger, more confident user might want. Generous type, strong contrast and big tap targets keep it usable for someone who isn’t steady with a mouse or a small screen.

There was no need for the site to be dynamic, so I built it static. That decision pays off across the board: near-instant load speeds even on an older phone or a patchy connection, next to nothing to maintain, cheap to host, and clean, fast-indexing markup that helps Adam turn up for the local searches that matter. For a one-page side business, it’s exactly the right amount of website — no CMS to babysit, no moving parts to break.
The Outcome
Adam’s Tech Help now has a home online that behaves the way the service does: calm, clear and quietly capable. Adam’s genuinely happy with it, and it’s already earning its keep; a handful of enquiries and paying jobs have come through the form since launch, from exactly the kind of customer the site was written for.
Peabody built the website for Adam’s Tech Help, and the whole process was straightforward from start to finish. Communication was excellent, the process was easy, and they were always happy to make changes as ideas evolved. I’ve now worked with Peabody on a couple of projects, and it’s been a great experience each time. It’s also been great to support another local Hobart business. I’d happily recommend them to anyone looking for a professional website.
AdamAdam’s Tech Help
Best of all, it does its job without getting in anyone’s way. The people who need Adam most are the ones least likely to push through a fiddly website, and this one never asks them to.
